Love and Death (1975) is writer, director, and star Woody Allen's send-up of the epic Russian novels of Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky. Allen stars as Boris Grushenko, a coward in a family full of stout hearted men, who is enlisted to serve in the Russian Army during the Napoleonic Wars. His one true love is also his cousin Sonja (Diane Keaton), the only person in the world he can have deep, philosophical conversations with, but who never seems to reciprocate his feelings. Through Boris' many adventures, the film takes aim at the grandeur of Russian literature as seen through the lens of a Marx Brothers movie, marking it as one of Allen's most hilarious, underrated, and under-seen films. While there's no nudity in the flick, there is some great corseted cleavage courtesy of Olga Georges-Picot as the Countess Alexandrovna, who attempts to seduce Boris!
