In a movie that might have been pitched as Pretty Baby (1978) with extra helpings of brains, fair and fine French filly Julie Delarme makes her leading-lady debut in Love, Math, and Sex (1997) as a precocious mathematical prodigy who practices her loin division with a much older man. In the reality crafted by director Charlotte Silvera, a forty-year-old Czech playwright chances to see grateful boys paying off Julie for doing their homework. The Czech comes to the natural conclusion that Julie is a prostitute, hires her, takes her to a hotel, and collects more than he had bargained for. Tender, if improbable, romance ensues.
