Monique (aka “Money”) Matters (Terri Abney) is a shy inner-city youth on the brink of adulthood. Her mother, Pamela (Aunjanue Ellis), is supposed to be the adult in the family, but a dark past and crippling self-doubt have put a major strain on her relationship with her daughter. When Money becomes closer to a neighborhood girl than her mother would like, and Pamela faces a difficult diagnosis, these two lost souls must finally grow up together.
