Historically speaking, the little-man complex has seldom been so completely personified as by Napoleon Bonaparte. Although little more than a midget-and-a-half, the brilliant and fearsome Monsieur N. (2003), as supreme commander of his cheese-inhaling, labe-licking countrymen, conquered most of Europe and might have subjugated the entire world to his lordly little whim had it not been for hubris and a particularly chilly spell of Russian weather. Monsieur N. concentrates upon the years of regret, when vanquished and portly, sad, wee Napoleon languished in exile upon the remote West African island of St. Helena. What other man, before or since, no matter how tall, has ever inspired the French to put down their escargot forks and pick up their weapons?
