Christian Slater is just another shy teenager in Pump Up the Volume (1990) until his parents buy him a short-wave radio. He then transforms himself into a pirate radio deejay named Happy Harry Hard-on, who riles up his fellow students with alternative rock music and impassioned speeches about our plastic fantastic society.
