Julianne Moore is a hollow hausfrau whose whole world turns against her in Safe (1995), Todd Haynes's daringly disturbing flick about a chick made sick by the poison of modern life. This wealthy beauty is going about her days the usual humdrum way when she's suddenly stricken by nosebleeds, seizures, creepy-crawly skin, coughing fits, and terrible dizziness. It seems that her sterile surroundings are terrorizing her with toxins, and no one believes that it's not in her head!
