Germany tried to capitalize on the success of American teen sitcoms with the saucy small-screen hit Schulmädchen (2002), a show that plays something like Berlin 90210 or Melrose Alexanderplatz. A group of wealthy, nubile teenagers frets about makeup, homework, and boys in the halls of the fictitious Franz-Josef Strauß gymnasium.
