Seconds (1966) pulls a middle-class loser out from his doldrums and literally into the body of the beautiful bohemian Rock Hudson. He gets a taste of the wild life, but ultimately it’s just as vapid as his gray-flannel-suit existence. This twisted and depressingly surreal story has a few glimmers of hope, mostly embodied in the amazing body of Salome Jens. Late in the flick, she gets naked and smashes some grapes with an equally nude bunch of wine-makers drunk on exhibitionism. After such a bitter tale, audiences will drink to Salome’s sweet tail.
