In Shattered (1991), Dan Merrick (Tom Berenger) is an amnesiac who must unravel the mystery of his past after a near-fatal accident. Dan was a successful architect with a beautiful wife, Judith (Greta Scacchi), before a car crash left him disfigured and in a coma. When he wakes up and begins to recover his memory, he discovers that he not well-liked and his marriage has been on the rocks. With his wife and friends lying to him about his former life, he turns to private eye Gus Klein (Bob Hoskins) to find out the truth about his accident.
