The indie drama Swimmers (2005) is set in Maryland on Chesapeake Bay's Eastern Shore and stars Tara Devon Gallagher as twelve-year-old Emma Tyler, who can no longer swim as she loves to do because of a problem with her ear. Her drunk father, Will (Robert Knott), makes a living catching crabs and oysters, her two brothers are at odds with one another, and her best friend is a troubled young woman named Merrill (Sarah Paulson), who shows her boobs twice. Even if she can’t swim, she has a nice set of flotation devices.
