Minx’s Rachel Lee Goldenberg brings us this fictionalized retelling of the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd (Lily James), who we meet back in 2012’s Los Angeles as she’s sneaking into some tech expo in order to network with possible investors. That’s where she runs into Sean Rad (Ben Schnetzer), a startup CEO who offers to hear her elevator pitch. She’s looking to develop an app to connect orphanages with volunteers and, spotting her potential, he ends up hiring her to be the head of marketing for his Cardify rewards app. Sorry orphans, better luck next time. In her very first big company meeting with Sean and his staff, Whitney comes up with the idea for rebranding their dating app Match Box as Tinder, which as we know turned out to be a huge success - and speaking of dating, she starts seeing one of her colleagues, Justin Mateen (Jackson White) - after going on a bunch of dates with users of other sites (strictly for research of course) and talking the app up at college frats and sororities to help nail what made Tinder popular with millennial youth. When Justin turns out to be horrible and their relationship falls apart, all the business bros shut her out, take all the credit, and let her go. No matter, because Dan Stevens shows up as Badoo CEO Andrey Andreev and gives her an opportunity to get back on top, and Whitney uses her skills and expertise to found the other big dating app of the 2010s, the women-friendly Bumble. At about fifty minutes in, Lily bumbles around in the dark getting dressed and we get a quick peek of panty. Forget sliding into DMS, we’d rather see Lily sliding out of her clothes more!
