Melissa Gilbert stars as Charlie, a down-on-her-luck orphaned teen trying to raise her brothers while breaking horses in a gritty Texas stockyard in the emotional drama Sylvester (1985). When Charlie loses her job and hits the equestrian unemployment line, she teams up with her old boss Foster (Richard Farnsworth) and the hospitable Hostler Matt (Michael Schoeffling) to turn a rowdy rodeo horse, Sylvester, into a champion colt. As the determined trio succeeds in their horse transformation, the three head to Kentucky to compete in various competitions, leading to some victories and defeats for the bronco bustin’ babe.
