Written, directed by, and starring Viggo Mortensen, The Dead Don't Hurt (2024) is something of a passion project for the western loving actor. In 1860s San Francisco, Franco-Canadian woman Vivienne Le Coudy (Vicky Krieps) falls for Danish carpenter Holger Olsen (Mortensen) and the two marry and move to his ranch in northern Nevada. When Olsen decides to enlist in the Union Army and help fight the Civil War, Vivienne is left to defend the ranch all by herself, putting her into conflict with several corrupt men who only stayed off Olsen's land in the past because they were afraid of him. They will soon learn to be afraid of Vivienne as well! The always amazing Vicky Krieps not only turns in another terrific performance, she also goes topless while bathing in a crick!
