George Clooney is a Hawaiian land baron with a dysfunctional family in The Descendants (2011). Matt King (Clooney) is devastated when he learns his wife (Judy Greer) is on life support after a boating accident. He’s even more devastated when his rebellious teenage daughter Alexandra (Shailene Woodley) lets slip a shocking secret: before the accident, Mom was cheating with a younger man (Matthew Lillard). So Matt packs up Alexandra and his wild younger daughter Kai (Mary Birdsong), and the trio go from Oahu to Kauai to confront “the other man.”
