Reminiscent of the blaxploitation classic Shaft (1971), the no budget flick The Guy from Harlem (1977) stars Loye Hawkins as private dick Al Connors. When an African princess is under the threat of danger, the CIA inexplicitly hires the streetwise investigator to hire the royal sweetie. Besides being a bodyguard, Al must use his fighting skills to defeat the evil Big Daddy (Wayne Crawford) and save an abducted babe from his ruthless clutches. Thankfully for us, Al finds time to romance a bunch of ladies, turning this blaxploitation flick into sexploitation romp. With her mile high afro and sensual smile, Cathy Davis shares some nice views of her bite-sized bon bons while showering. And with the assist of a mirror, we get a quick look at Patricia Fulton’s chocolate funbags. Who cares about the guy from Harlem, because we want to spend some time in the girls’ boroughs!
