A fetching virologist cuts short her Caribbean vacation in order to halt the spread of a deadly pathogen in the made-for-TV doomsday feature The Paradise Virus (2003). Melody Thomas Scott stars as Dr. Linda Flemming, a leggy blonde scientist who retreats to the island idyll of Barsarato for some sun, sand, and R&R. The holiday is ended prematurely, however, by the emergence of an epidemic that claims Flemming’s son as one of its first victims. Brian Trenchard-Smith’s PAX network thriller was originally titled Hot Zone, which doubles as an apt description of the set. In donning a tight-fitting bikini, co-star Kristen Swieconek matches lead actress Scott curve for curve.
