Marxism and high camp get it on together amid arthouse porn in director Bruce LaBruce’s bisexual bacchanal The Raspberry Reich (2004). The sexy satire centers around Gudrun (Susanne Sachße yet credited as Susanne Sachsse), a dominatrix with revolutionary ideals, a posse of devoted followers, and a plan to smash the bourgeoisie with sexual terrorism. She and her slaves kidnap the son of a wealthy businessman to draw attention to their horny cause, leading to a kaleidoscopic carnival of sexual depravity and revolutionary agitprop. Part of Gudrun’s plan to subvert the mainstream is smashing heterosexuality so be prepared, there’s a lot of sausage in this one. Luckily for us, Ms. Sachße also treats viewers to skintillating views of her revolutionary flesh. Check out her rack, rump and rug 7 minutes and 55 seconds into the film when she demands her dude do her for the cause. Talk about politics making strange bedfellows! If that’s not arousing enough, the loose leading lady continues to bare her breasts, bush and bum when she and her bang buddy hump their way across a propaganda-plastered apartment. Some of the poster slogans say “Out of the bedrooms into the streets!, The Revolution is my boyfriend!” and “Fuck me for the Revolution!” But the real skinematic provocation comes a mere 5 minutes into the movie when Susanne and her partner engage in a scene of real penetrative sex! Now, that’s what we call a method actress. Suffice it to say, The Raspberry Reich puts the X into experimental filmmaking!
