Bored and ambitious country-club bathroom attendant Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) attempts to pull his life out of the toilet by pretending to be a wealthy, young jetsetter in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999). After borrowing a Princeton jacket from coat check, he convinces a wealthy father that he is friends with his estranged son Dickey (Jude Law). Things soon get tricky when pops enlists Tom to travel to Italy to convince Dickey and his foxy mama Marge (Gwyneth Paltrow) to return to the States. When Dickey and company learn that the talented Tom is not who he seems, his life turns to shit once again.
