A traumatic accident drives a wedge between passionate lovers in Thea und Nat (1992), a German-Austrian romantic drama from director Nina Grosse. Attractive Thea (Corinna Harfouch) and wealthy Nat (Helmut Berger) enjoy an idyllic relationship until Thea’s carelessness causes a disastrous accident that leaves her lover paralyzed. As the couple desperately consults with physicians, they come to the conclusion that their Edenic moment has passed and that the road ahead will be marked by frustration and struggle. Fortunately Grosse is kind enough to levy her dour conclusions with a number of uplifting scenes. A scantily clad Harfouch is enough to make anyone forget his troubles, as the elegant German actress boasts a rack that’s hard to ignore.
