Set in the criminal underworld of Liverpool’s drug smuggling trade, mobster patriarch Ronnie Phelan (Sean Bean) has his eyes set on retirement, and it looks like his choice for a successor is his loyal right-had man, Michael Kavanaugh (James Nelson-Joyce). Michael is primed to take over, despite a growing desire to start a family of his own (through IVF because of his low sperm count) and live a quiet life with his loving girlfriend, Diana (Hannah Oslow).
