Nude: Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story 2005 Nude Scenes

British director Michael Winterbottom accomplishes the unthinkable with Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story (2005), his imaginative adaptation of a sprawling and cerebral sixteenth-century novel by Laurence Sterne. Tristram Shandy has long been regarded as impossible to adapt, but Winterbottom pulls it off with aplomb by creating a movie-inside-a-movie that capably communicates the high comedy and zany self-referential quality of the book. Steve Coogan lampoons his own craft in his role as an arrogant actor who’s in over his head in trying to bring the mammoth British tone to life. Fortunately he’s got Mrs. Shandy to lean on in times of distress. Keeley Hawes underlines the “cock and bull” promise by shedding her nightgown for a bit of charmingly antiquated bawdiness.
