A young kleptomaniac and a middle-aged noodle-shop owner prove that not all who wander are lost in Virgin Blues (1974). Kumiko Akiyoshi stars as a young virgin girl who feels compelled to shoplift from the stores she frequents. A chance encounter with a glum older man sparks a unique friendship, and the two take to the road for a unique existential journey. Throughout, the virgin Akiyoshi plays it steadfastly chaste, but she makes an exception during a delightful skinny-dipping jaunt.
