Directing a movie is a stressful and fatiguing occupation. The director is the one person on the set who is ultimately accountable for the film’s outcome. The director will be held to blame for any number of potential mishaps that no single human can control--vagaries of cast, crew, and environment. Shouldered with such crushing responsibility, no wonder the director occasionally needs a break from the pressure, especially if that director is a high-strung, high-lunged woman as depicted in the film being filmed within the film Virgins of Sherwood Forest (2000). So when the directing miss is inadvertently knocked upon the head and takes advantage of unconsciousness to drift off to an enchanted vision of Robin Hood’s wooded sanctuary, replete with two wenches for every guy, do not begrudge her this release.
