Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) is a raspy-voiced casino cocktail waitress with an uncanny ability - she’s a human lie detector who knows the minute someone isn’t being truthful. It gets her in hot water when her best friend dies and she realizes the casino owner’s son is involved. His subsequent suicide then makes her a target of the owner himself, Sterling Frost (Ron Perlman), so she skips town and embarks on a cross country road trip to evade Cliff (Benjamin Bratt), the casino’s head of security. At each stop along the way - and despite her best efforts to stay hidden - her special talent for spotting bullshit gets her tangled up in murder mystery after quirky murder mystery (dang, do people be killing) the truth of which she eventually unravels like a curly-haired, chain-smoking Columbo. In the second season, Frost is traded in for Beatrix Hasp (Rhea Perlman), head of the Five Families of the casino world, and Natasha finally lets some skin slip out when we catch a peek at her red lacy bra in episode 2. Also joining her in that episode is Katie Holmes, who almost pops her top while talking to Giancarlo Esposito. Poker? He hardly knows her! (just kidding, he plays her husband)
