Birthplace: Huron, South Dakota
Date of Birth: 07/12/1951
The 1970s were a banner decade for the blonde bombshell, and Cheryl Ladd is among the era's hottest broads. Born in Huron, South Dakota, to a waitress and a railroad engineer, Cheryl is an apple that fell far from the family tree. Ironically enough, her career began offscreen, as she provided the singing voice for Melody on the hit animated series Josie & the Pussycats (1970). She went on to appear in the action revenge film Chrome and Hot Leather (1971), an episode of the police drama The Rookies (1972), three episodes of the science fiction series Search (1972), (we're on the search for nude celebs) the made-for-TV horror flick Satan's School for Girls (1973), and The Treasure of Jamaica Reef (1974), but after her stint in those less-well-received projects, Cheryl was ready to step it up. She hit the jackpot when she replaced pert-nipped Farrah Fawcett on the hit jiggle show Charlie's Angels (1977). Superstardom soon followed, and Cheryl became a permanent fixture on the pop-culture landscape. Whether she followed Fawcett's footsteps into fanny-flashing is a subject of much speculation. Word has it Cheryl used a body double for her only topless film appearance -- an underwater scene in Evil in the Deep (1974). We prefer to leave that for the discerning viewer to decide for sure. Lately, she's been sticking to mainly to Hallmark-type fare like A Dog of Flanders (1999) and even Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012), but if Demi Moore can bounce back from mommyhood and wow 'em in a bikini, so can this ageless Angel.
