It might seem unusual to base a 1970s sex romp on a fourteenth-century book penned by a high priestess, but El Libro del Buen Amor (1975) manages to do just that. Akin to deceptively bawdy classics like The Canterbury Tales, The Book of Good Love packs enough of an erotic punch that it fits the zeitgeist of the swingin ’70s like a glove. Foxy pop star Patxi Andión and actresses Mabel Escaño and Blanca Estrada play randy dames who do their best to ignore the Bubonic plague by boffing their troubles away. Escaño and Estrada are kind enough to let viewers in on the action by showing off their lithe frames during lengthy sex sessions.
