Gene Wilder plays Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson in Mel Brooks’s Young Frankenstein (1974), one of the funnyman’s best movies. That’s both Wilder and Brooks. The take-off on the great Universal monster pictures is visually stunning in beautiful black-and-white, hilariously hilarious, and outrageously sexy thanks to Madeline Kahn and Teri Garr, as Inga, the doctor’s busty assistant. Even Cloris Leachman as the creepy Frau Blücher offers something for the masochists in the audience, but ultimately this is a crowd-pleaser in ever way.
